Activities

A session was organized to discuss the activities of the Yemen Spate Irrigation Network. The following activities were identified:

  • Exchange information between organizations working on spate irrigation in Yemen
  • Exchange of information with other countries
  • Initiating training events
  • Undertake case studies

Preference was communication through electronic newsletter and paper newsletter (as nearly half of the members/ trainees have no email address as yet).

Priority themes

The participants were also asked to indicate priority themes – both from a predetermined list and by bringing in their own ideas. Below the number of ‘hits’ per themes is given. There is a particularly large interest in the relation with groundwater recharge; (improved traditional) engineering and related to this water rights issues.
